NO NAME TAGS, NO PITCH decks:
FUTURE TITANS is not where people walk around staring at name tags to see if someone is worth talking to (aka, holding LPs hostage and hard pitching them!). This is for fostering new connections, making new (or deepening existing) relationships and friendships, and gaining the opportunity to really connect and learn from our peers and community.
There will be no name tags. You will have to talk to people without knowing who they are! Just like the good old days.
This ethos also means no pitch decks. So when you do meet someone who could invest in your fund, aka an LP, don’t roll into a hard pitch. In fact, if you’re a nonstop pitch machine at the event, you won’t be invited back.
BUT, we do hope this is the single best destination for emerging managers to meet new LPs and vice versa. And we do know everyone wants to share their fund, we get it. We’re emerging managers too! (We also want to pitch to anyone who breathes.) But we hold a deep belief that the best partnerships don’t start with a pitch.
Now, of course, we will all discuss our funds, portfolio companies, and strategies. We know that. But let’s start with just spending quality time together. If you vibe with an LP, you can schedule a proper intro and pitch meeting for some time after the event.
THE content and format:
We’re working hard to curate the best tactical and actionable content and speakers in the entire VC ecosystem. Yes, not just for emerging managers but for everyone. We know this is a big task, but we’re looking for power law outcomes, right?
We’ll have straight talk sessions on how to build a world-class firm. Imagine this as your own private thought partner or a firm-building executive coach!
We’ll have people discussing how to train junior investors, set salaries and carry, build team culture, and improve dealflow and LP pipeline. We’ll have blue-chip firms teach how to build marketing functions, develop venture partner and operating partner programs, and how they strategize their AGMs and community engagement.
What we won’t have: nebulous concepts, uninspiring panels, and buzzwords that sound good but actually offer very little help.
